Business offers food, refuge for those affected by Lake McConaughy fires
Owners of a local restaurant, Sands Edge, opened its doors Sunday to fire victims who were forced to evacuate.
They offered free food and drinks for those awaiting the outcome.
"Three to four right now have lost their homes or structures near their homes," said Sands Edge owner J R Branham. "Garages, lots of antiques, cars, but, things that can't be replaced, but some of their houses are there but other parts of them isn't there."
Branham says despite the damage, this fire will strengthen those in the area.
"I don't think it'll change a lot, there's a lot of us that are going to come together and help people rebuild their stuff and do what we can to get everybody get their stuff back together...help them," Branham said.
Sands Edge also helped provide food and water to those fighting the fire.
