Nominate your favorite for Hall County's Excellence in Teaching award
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. —
It’s that time of year again to nominate your favorite Hall County teacher for the Excellence in Teaching award.
The Grand Island Community Foundation gives out $5,000 each year to a K-12, Hall County teacher nominated for this award.
Students, co–workers, and friends alike have the opportunity to fill out a short essay online and give the name of the teacher they believe is most deserving.
The foundation's Chief Executive Officer, Melissa Delaet, said it's important to recognize teachers because they do a lot of behind-the-scenes work.
"Not only do they have really neat honor, but they also get a little bit of money that says, 'hey, you made an impact on somebodies life– we're really happy for you and appreciate you,'” she said. “And they're able to do something with that. One of the neatest things is that a lot of those teachers end up giving that back to their classrooms in some way or another," Delaet said.
The deadline to submit nominees is Sept. 26. For more information on how you can nominate a teacher, click here.
