Funk body autopsy determines death of woman
The Phelps County Attorney said they’ve identified the cause of death of a woman found in a corn field near Funk.
Phelps County Attorney's Office sent out a release stating that they determined Cynthia Lammers died by suicide from a drug overdose.
Lammers, 51, of Kearney was found in a corn field in July.
The toxicology indicated that is was a prescription drug overdose and indicated that there was no signs of injury.
Phelps County Sheriff's office said that her last known contact was a text message stating she intended to consume prescription medication and end her life.
The Phelps County Attorney said that Lammers was staying at a residence near where she was found.
According to the Phelps County Attorney, the sheriff’s office got the report of a body in the area of 739 and R Road on July 11.
Phelps County Sheriff Office said the case was originally investigated as a homicide before the autopsy.
