Hundreds gather in Holdrege to pack meals for children
HOLDREGE, Neb. —
Nearly 900 volunteers worked together in Holdrege on Saturday to pack more than 300,000 meals for starving children across the world.
The Holdrege Rotary Club partnered with 26 local churches to pack nutritious meals into boxes.
A representative said that with the number of meals prepared this year, they are expecting to feed 844 children one meal per day for a year.
Volunteers call the experience humbling.
"When you come, you think you're doing a good thing for other people and when we leave you realize how blessed you are and you feel so good about spending two hours to help starving children across the world," said Michele High.
The two-day project wrapped up on Saturday afternoon.
