UPDATE: One killed in Highway 281 crash
Grand Island, Neb. —
One person is dead after a crash on Highway 281 north of Grand Island Monday.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday, 85-year-old Barbara Sullivan, of Fullerton was killed.
The sheriff's office said they received a report of a crash at Highway 281 and Prairie Road at 10:48 a.m. Monday.
According to the sheriff's office, a minivan carrying three people north on the highway hit a Toyota Camry driven by Sullivan west on Prairie Road. Authorities said the sedan failed to stop at the intersection and was hit by the minivan on the driver's side.
The person killed was driving the sedan, according to deputies. The person's name has not been released.
The passengers in the minivan suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to CHI St Francis, according to authorities.
The Nebraska State Patrol, Grand Island Fire Department and the St Libory Rural Fire Department also responded.
Highway 281 had been closed between East Chapman Road and Loup River Road, according to Nebraska 511.
