New membership based healthcare clinic opens in Kearney

As health care costs continue to rise, a new clinic is trying to reverse that trend.

Click Family Healthcare says they're bringing a new concept to the area and it is based off the Direct Primary Care model.

They offer medical care for the cost of a monthly membership.

"For all of your primary care needs, so sore throats, coughs, ear aches, bronchitis, those types of things, those are covered with your monthly membership" said John Jacobsen MD, Click Family Healthcare founder and owner. "Also, if you have a chronic illness like diabetes, those will also be part of the management."

That means no per–visit fees.

"Now, if you need to have labs or you need to have medications which I will dispense out of the clinic then those will be at market reduced prices," said Jacobsen.

While he says everyone should hold insurance in case of trauma, he does not bill the insurance companies for his primary care.

"I'll give you an example of a patient of mine who doesn't have insurance for prescriptions," said Jacobsen. "They went to the local pharmacy, or their local pharmacy and it was 137 dollars for a 90 day supply of their cholesterol medicine. I looked on my wholesaler's website, and I could buy the same 90 day supply for $8.97."

Membership costs are based on age and begin at $15 per month and go up to $100.

And he says these fees include direct access to Jacobsen, your doctor.

"My standard appointment is going to be 30 minutes so that we have the time to build a relationship," said Jacobsen. "But, you can email me, you can text me, you can if you want, we can do video chat."

Click Family Healthcare is currently operating out of their temporary location at 4009 6th Avenue. They hope to move into their permanent facility in March.
