Study: Smaller, affordable housing needed in Kearney

(MGN Online)

Researchers say, while Kearney is an attractive place to live and work, the housing opportunities aren't all there.

A six-month study of Kearney housing isn't final just yet, but right now those conducting it said limited availability is a factor in increased prices.

Results showed people want smaller homes that are affordable.

The study also suggests, no matter what stage in life, homeowners want the same kind of housing: smaller homes with shared open spaces.

Researchers said that matches national trends right now.

The study also said groups like as single professionals, families and college students say they are underserved.

You can learn more about the study at a presentation at Kearney City Hall on Friday at 9:00 a.m. For more information, call 308-233-3254.
