UNK moves to make changes based on enrollment
KEARNEY, Neb. —
The University of Nebraska at Kearney is making changes after enrollment numbers were announced last week.
This is the sixth year in a row that UNK's enrollment numbers have decreased. There has been a steady decline since 2012- putting UNK back to where they were ten years ago.
Assistant Vice Chancellor of Communications Kelly Bartling said the university is aware of the issue and plans to take action.
"Our core students are Nebraskans, so we don't have the luxury of having a large advertising promotions budget, so we just need to do a better job of making sure that people understand and recognize Kearney's value and it's quality. So that's what we're gonna do," Bartling said.
The university currently holds 6,644 students for fall enrollment.
