Daily Mail: Deputy who didn't stop Parkland shooter spotted at a strip mall
WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) -- Scot Peterson, the 54-year-old sheriff's deputy who never entered Stoneman Douglas High as a shooter killed 17 students, was spotted by Daily Mail TV at a strip mall on Boynton Beach in Florida.
Peterson was seen wearing a pink shirt and a baseball cap. Daily Mail TV reports Peterson was headed for lunch alongside a female companion.
The former sheriff's deputy resigned and retired from law enforcement after facing scrutiny for not fighting back against shooter Nikolas Cruz.
Security footage shows Peterson roaming outside of the school for four minutes during the rampage.
Peterson said through his lawyer that he thought Cruz was shooting from outside of the school.
"Had he intervened, those people on the second and third floor could possible still be alive today. How do you justify that?" Jeff Bell, president of the Broward Sheriff's Office Deputies Association told Daily Mail TV.
