The Nebraska Farm Bureau will be celebrating a milestone on Monday.

The state’s largest general farm organization is meeting for the 100th time.

NTV News spoke with the president of the Nebraska Farm Bureau, Steve Nelson.

Nelson said the meeting is important and it is not often that farmers have the opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the ten decades of accomplishments.

The annual meeting will consist of conducting the business of the organization while also electing new officers.

Members will focus on passing farm bureau policies or working on news ones, as well as reviewing financial reports.

"The way our process works, policies come in from county farm bureaus throughout the fall and those policies then come before the House of Delegates on Tuesday and are discussed by delegates in each county and those that pass then become our policy for the next year,” Nelson said.

Farmers already were in line on Sunday evening signing up for Monday.

"You come here, make a plan for the following year they know what we want for policy, for our government, now the Nebraska Farm Bureau is down in Lincoln doing work on our behalf while were busy taking care of things at home,” said Keith County farmer Andy Devries.

The two-day convention begins Monday at the Younes Conference Center in Kearney.
