Husker volleyball takes over Kearney, does not face UNK

The Nebraska Huskers spend Friday, April 21, 2017 practicing at Kearney High School in lieu of a spring match with Colorado State the following day (NTV News)

Nebraska taking the floor in Kearney for a final tune-up before participating in their spring match against Colorado State.

Sure, the tickets sold out almost instantaneously for this highly anticipated event, rare to a high school in central Nebraska to get such high profile players.

But imagine if this was at the Health and Sports Center.

Against a great Division II team like UNK.

It's not happening this year for something as simple as a spring match. Why not?

"We've never talked to UNK about that," said head coach John Cook. "Colorado State has a couple of players. Olivia Nicholson from North Platte and they have another player from in state. The approached us about playing and we tried to find somewhere to play in the middle. We were looking at North Platte, then Kearney became available. This is a great gym and it's pretty centrally located."

Big Red going for almost an hour through a variety of warm up drills for the fans in attendance. 2,000 tickets were sold to the match in less than 30 minutes.

First serve for the match tomorrow with Colorado State begins at 3 pm. Doors open at 1:30 for fans attending. We'll have plenty of coverage tomorrow night on NTV News at 6.
