Nebraska men close out 2017 with win
LINCOLN, Neb. —
Nebraska had four score in double figures in their final non-conference meeting of the season, topping Stetson, 71-62, Friday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Both teams came out sluggish in the first half with each team scoring 24 points. Shooting was an issue for both sides as the Huskers (34.9%) out shot the Hatters (34.7%) from the field. Stetson was much better from long range efficiency as both clubs hit five triples but Stetson took four fewer attempts.
Junior Tanner Borchardt scored eight points and collected ten rebounds for the Huskers, tying a game-high with Jordy Tshimanga. Nebraska had Isaac Copeland and James Palmer, Jr. reach 13 points to lead the Husker scoring attack. Evan Taylor added 10 points as a starter and also tied Palmer for the lead in assists at four each.
Nebraska is off until Jan. 2 when they play at Northwestern to begin Big Ten basketball. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. CT start and is airing live on BTN.
