Nebraska signs 20 scholarship players to 2017 class

Nebraska completing its 2017 class with 20 scholarship players and another 9 walk–ons, some with ties to central Nebraska.

Austin Allen the lone representative from the central portion of the state receiving a scholly.

All told, this class ranking 21st by ESPN.com as of 6:00 p.m. CT on February 1, 2017.

"We're excited about it. It's kind of you don't really know what's going to come out of it at the end, but it kind of hits about half of our kids in this class are in the radius," head coach Mike Riley says. "I'm not going to make that overdramatic, but that's interesting to me and I think there's still work to be done with that whole thought. If I have a goal for next year, we're even going to step up making sure we cover all the ground in our radius."

Those walk–ons from the 500-mile radius include Hunter Miller of Stromsburg, Dylan Reynolds out of Broken Bow and Central City's Jordan Paup.

The "Calibraska" movement didn't pan out to be as much as expected; Tristan Gebbia (QB) and Keyshawn Johnson, Jr. (WR) from Calabasas, plus Elijah Blades (DB) and Tyjon Lindsey (WR), who actually played in Las Vegas' Bishop Gorman High School.

Here's a look at the class as a whole:
