Opening the Gates to the NFL

Nebraska junior Nick Gates (68) goes to take his helmet off during pre-game warms ups on Oct. 14, 2017, prior to the Huskers-Ohio State meeting (KHGI)

No more watching Nick Gates wear a Nebraska uniform.

The offensive lineman with another year of eligibility has decided to pursue the game where he can get a little more than a free education and some good meals – better known as the NFL.

Gates is jumping in to the 2018 Draft pool via Twitter at 1:25 Tuesday morning, joining the guy he was in charge of protecting all season, Tanner Lee.

The "Pipeline" helped a variety of individuals rush for a combined 1,290 yards and gave up 24 sacks.

Gates started 26 straight games at left tackle, surpassing Richie Incognito for the longest streak at the position.
