Hastings College baseball beginning the year on a 6 game losing streak.

A rigorous schedule partly to blame for the slow start. Since then, Hastings has picked up the pace.

Bronco baseball taking seven of their last nine games including a victory over then seventh-ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

Hastings improving offensively and defensively throughout the last few weeks, and with the conference schedule quickly approaching, the Broncos know there's not much room for error.

"We have to play well to win. Any mistakes we make they make you pay," said head coach Steve Spongberg, who is in his fourth season leading the Broncos. "I hope our kids can learn the right way the game needs to be played.

"You hope it pays dividends when it the comes to the conference schedule. There are a lot of good conference schools out there. So we'll have our work cut out from there as well."

The Broncos are back in action Thursday at Duncan Field against York College. First pitch set for 5:00 p.m. CT.
