The No. 1 ranked Hastings College Broncos brought home a clean sheet against No. 16 Doane (-15, -23, -21) in the GPAC season opener for both teams Wednesday night at Lynn Farrell Arena.

Hastings College was led by senior Katie Placke, who tied for a match high of 12 kills (.375 hitting percentage) and 20 assists. She also added a couple of block assists for Hastings.

Cassidy Ostrand helped out offensively with seven terminations (.278), and Casey Krolikowski was second best for the Broncos with her nine kills at a slightly less efficient .227.

Perhaps there was no single player outside of Placke who was more critical to the Crimson and Cream success than true freshman Lucy Skoch, who had four block assists in the match.

Doane's top senior, Maci Coffey, tied Placke with a dozen kills.
