Emporia State stings Lopers in one-sided victory
From the second play of the game, UNK was playing catch up against Emporia State, losing 45-17 Thursday at Emporia, Kans.
Braxton Marstall threw for 435 yards and four touchdowns against a Loper defense giving up 209 yards in the season opener. Marstall connected on 30 of his 36 passes (83.3%).
Louis Dailey was Marstall's No. 1 target, as they connected six times for 119 yards and a couple of touchdowns. The Hornets rattled off 520 yards of offense, with 449 of those coming through the air.
UNK quarterback Steve Worthing rushed the ball 22 times for 86 yards and threw for another 95 yards on 10 completions. As a whole, UNK was only able to garner 269 yards against the Hornet defense.
UNK drops to 1-1 on the season and it doesn't get any easier. The Lopers play Northwest Missouri State next week, Sept. 16, and the Bearcats are coming to Kearney on a 32-game winning streak.
