Senior right hander Taylor Burns tossed a three-hit complete game shutout and freshman designated hitter Erik Webb hit two home runs to help second-ranked Central Missouri beat Nebraska-Kearney, 11-0 (7 innings), Sunday afternoon at Memorial Field.

The game ended after seven innings due to the MIAA 10-run rule. With the victory, the Mules (17-5, 9-3) take the three-game series over the Lopers (8-14, 1-8).

For the third straight day, UCM scored in its first at bat as Webb (3-for-4, four runs & four RBI) hit his second homer of the year, a solo shot, to left center. Two innings later, the two-hole hitter belted a three-run shot to left to make it 4-0.

From the mound, Burns had eight outs came via fly ball with junior right fielder Justin Graff-Rowe making a couple of diving catches to prevent extra base hits.

UCM also saw senior second baseman Miles Orscheln go 2 for 4 with a run and three RBI's. He had a two-run homer, his first of the year, in the sixth.

UNK senior starter Trey Ertmer (1-3) took the loss as he allowed seven runs in 5.1 innings. He did blank UCM in the second and fourth innings.

At the plate, senior left fielder and leadoff hitter Jacob Richardson remained hot as he went 2 for 3 for the Lopers. Over the last seven games, he is batting .500 (10 for 20) with six runs and three RBI's.

Weather permitting, UNK plays at Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday afternoon.
