Split city for second straight day in Hastings

Hastings College softball partakes in a double header against Kansas Wesleyan University on March 19, 2017 (NTV News)

A four-run inning proved to be the difference in both games between Hastings College and Kansas Wesleyan as the schools split a doubleheader Sunday at the Smith Softball Complex in Hastings.

Game two seeing the Broncos put four runs up in the fifth to extend its lead to 7-0. Kansas Wesleyan added two runs in the sixth but it was all they could scratch together.

Ashlynn Clifford went the distance in the second game, giving up three hits and two earned runs.

Lexie Lindermann (first base) and Cara Williams (left field) each went 1 for 3 from the plate and scoring a pair of runs, while Lindermann had two RBI.

Game one was almost the exact opposite, as the Coyotes put a four-spot on the board in the fourth inning to take a 4-2 lead and win by the same score.

Kylie Ross threw 3..0 innings of shutout baseball and collected two strikeouts for Kansas Wesleyan.
