Governor celebrates National Ag Week

Ranchers suffer under current economic conditions

Farmers and ranchers continue to be challenged by current economic conditions and that’s sure to be one of the many issues on Governor Pete Ricketts' agenda as he makes plans for National Agriculture Week.

Ten communities are on his schedule from Scottsbluff to Omaha.

The Governor said it was important to highlight farmers and ranchers whose jobs are related back to the state's top industry.

He said one in four jobs is related to agriculture, and it's the sector of the economy driving growth in the state.

The governor will be visiting farms and feedlots and also hosting an open house Wednesday afternoon at "Raising Nebraska" on the state fairgrounds.
