Spokane, Wash. – The Indoor Football League season came to a close on Saturday, and less than a week later, a surprise to see the Spokane Empire ceasing operations for the 2018 season.

The ownership group posted to its web site their stated goal of allowing themselves time to explore alternatives and perhaps find new local business partners to keep indoor football a part of the Spokane community.

The Empire finished 2017 at 8–8, including a loss in six of the last seven games.
