Storm's Larsson playing for Sweden juniors a third time
Tri–City has to go without their top player for a seven–game stretch beginning next week.
It's probably pretty hard for Filip Larsson to turn down an opportunity and compete in what is considered the world's most prestigious junior hockey tournament. Larsson was once again selected by his home country of Sweden for the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championships, running from Dec. 26–Jan. 5 in Buffalo, New York.
A 2016, 6th round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings, Larsson is one of the top tenders in the USHL this season; Owner of a league best 1.50 goals against average, a .942 save percentage, four shutouts and 13 wins.
This is the third time the 19–year-old has worn Swedish yellow at an international tournament, playing for his homeland at the under–16 and under–18 versions of this junior tournament.
The 2018 event can be viewed live on NHL Network.
