Brooks' arm bites in to Omaha South bats
HASTINGS, Neb. —
The Hastings Tigers earned a 5-1 victory over Omaha South, their seventh against a Class A foe, and improved to 12-3 on the year.
With the victory, Hastings stays atop the Class B wildcard standings with six games remaining in their regular season.
Josh Brooks was the star for the Tigers by pitching a complete game. The senior struck out eight Omaha South batters with a dominant 0.71 WHIP (walks plus hits per innings pitched) and the only run surrendered came in the top of the seventh when the Tigers already had a five-run cushion.
Most of the damage done with the bat came from Cameron Edwards. The Hastings senior had three RBI
Sam Wibbels, who had three quality at-bats, and Mike Boeve both had a couple of hits off Packer starter Lane Flammang.
Hastings is back at it on Monday when Lincoln Pius X visits Duncan Field.
