Class D UNK Indoor Meet

The first day of spring sports opened with the annual UNK Indoor Meet at Cushing Coliseum.

Plenty of exciting times and scores being put up on the year's first track and field event, starting with Elm Creek's Claire Cornell. The Buffalo long-jumper setting a provisional state record of 18'-9.5". However, there is no certainty of where it stands because it was set indoors.

Perhaps the most impressive distance between a first- and second-place competitor came in the girls 3200M run. Tiffany Dickau, from Elwood, finished in 13:09.70, which was 1:10.44 faster than Hampton junior Jaylen Arndt, who was the runner-up.

Caleb Springing winning the boys 3200M run with a time of 11:37.65, a little less than seven seconds faster than Elwood freshman Zacob Evans.

Jacey Nutter also getting out to a leap of 20'-5.75" to win the boys long jump for Sandhills-Thedford.

Palmer senior Michael Wolfe was 18 inches better than the field when he cleared 12-00.00 feet in the pole vault.
