Kearney, Creighton Prep go to shootout for second straight year
OMAHA, Neb. —
For the second year in a row, Kearney and Creighton Prep went to a shootout after going 100 minutes without scoring a goal.
The result was a little different this time around.
Jacob Hardy came up with a save in the third round of the shootout and Carson Schwarz capped off a 5 for 5 effort by the Bearcat attackers to win the shootout, 5-4, and the match 1-0. Hardy's shutout was his 10th of the season and his 30th all-time, moving him in to first in school history.
The Junior Jays ended the Bearcat season in 2017 with several saves by goalie Matt Smith, beating Kearney 3-1 in the shootout for a 1-0 final.
