Papillion-La Vista snapped Kearney's 19-game winning streak, 62-50 in the Class A state semifinal.

Kanon Koster, coming off a career-high 38-point performance in the quarterfinals, scored 28 for Kearney in the semifinal. He needed more help than his teammates could offer on this night.

Ryan Koski had six of his eight in the fourth quarter, while Jake Teichmeier went 5-for-6 from the free throw stripe in the fourth.

Both teams seemingly saved their best for last, as they combined for 45 points in the fourth quarter, with Papillion-La Vista outscoring the 'Cats by a slight edge, 24-21.

The Monarchs were better on the scoreboard in each quarter, slowly building their lead from one to five, then nine, before the final 12-point distance between the two.

Ayo Akinwole leading Papillion-La Vista with 24 points, 14 of them coming in the second half as he was perfect on eight free throws. Ed Chang also scored 14 for PLV.

Kearney got out to a 9-5 lead behind Koster, who scored six of the first nine and 15 of the Bearcats 20 points by halftime. Papillion-La Vista went on a 12-2 run from there to lead 17-11.
