They say home is where the heart is. It's certainly the case for Kearney's own Kanon Koster who announced his college decision on twitter. After a 3 year recruitment and a stellar career for the Bearcats, Koster is signing with the hometown Lopers.

"I had a very high comfort level with Coach Lofton and the rest of the guys on the team,"Koster told NTV. " I already knew the guy I was going to room with so I was just very comfortable with it."

Over the last several years Kanon Koster has established himself as one of the top players in the state. A reputation, which put him on the radar of college coaches. Ultimately, his decision came down to McNeese State and UNK.

"I got back from my visit to McNeese State on Sunday night and I talked it over with my parents that night. Kind of knew which way I was leaning and Monday was the day that I for sure decided.

Koster made it official byreleasing a video produced by KHS media productions documenting his career in Kearney and leaving his supporters with a message.

"I'm not done chasing championships from my hometown. Kearney means the world to me. My journey continues. It's time to go to work."

The allure of playing Division I basketball while enticing, was not enough to sway him from the Loper program.

"It was a tough decision just to have to tell those guys. I had developed really good relationships with all those coaches. So to tell them no was pretty tough, but I think I made the right decision."
