Kearney Little League falls one game short of regional championship

The Nebraska team has fallen just one game short of the Little League Baseball® Midwest Regional Tournament championship.

Kearney Little League mounted an amazing comeback Thursday in Westfield, Indiana, winning 6-5 against defending regional champions Iowa.

Kearney scored four runs in the bottom of the last inning for the win.

It looked like a similar comeback was beginning against Missouri on Friday.

Kearney was down 9-0 in the 5th inning, but scored four runs. They would score one more run in the bottom of the 6th inning, but would ultimately lose 9-5.

The team posted on their Facebook page Friday: "Thank you coaches and players for a great postseason run. It was fun to watch. Safe travels back. Enjoy all the memories made. Thank you again for representing our community and state so well. Class act."

Missouri advances to the regional championship to take on South Dakota on Saturday.
