Emerging McCook designer debuts full collection on runway at Omaha Fashion Week
Omaha Fashion Week is the fifth largest fashion event in the country, and this weekend, it was a sold out show.
Friday was the Emerging Designer Showcase, featuring ten up and coming designers, including Mackenzie Esch from McCook.
"Omaha Fashion Week, it was awesome,": said Esch, MPE Designs. "It was so much fun getting ready and having all the models backstage doing hair and makeup and the show was of course so much fun."
This was Esch's first time having a full collection hit the OFW runway.
"My favorite one was my signature dress, that was the last one, and the sequin beaded, the dress with all the sequins and the braid in the back," said Esch.
Esch describes her collection as A City of Lights, created from pinks and blacks, with each bead representing a light in the night sky.
"It was really fun to hear like when the crowd was cheering and like what they liked," said Esch.
Like with any live show, there is bound to be a few hiccups, and Esch's collection was no exception.
"One of my models did fall a little bit at the end of the runway but its okay because she got back from it so it was not really a big deal," said Esch.
Esch embraced her entire first fashion week experience is already looking to the future.
"I learned a lot just talking to different designers that I could use for myself so it was really a good learning experience and it was a ton of fun just to be a part of this whole thing."
On Sunday, Esch's designs were for sale at the Shop the Runway event at the Omaha Design Center.
