As donors age, the American Red Cross needs younger generations to give blood
As the 15th annual NTV Blood drive comes to an end, the American Red Cross would like to remind the community that Monday is not the only day donations are needed.
They said many of their donors are elderly and that is having an impact on blood supply.
"Some of our donors are aging, and developing health issues and we really need to go and start seeing some of our younger people become blood donors," said John Jones, account manager for American Red Cross Blood Services. "We need to replace those, plus the population is growing and so the needs are significant."
