Back 2 School Bash offers free physicals, vision check, shots and more
The Grand Island Back 2 School Bash is a new event for students that brings them hair cuts, physicals, shots, vision checks, school supplies and more... and it's all for free and under one roof. Organizers said those services are all being provided by about 25 organizations.
"Lets do this as a community rather than individuals, lets show this community that we stand behind our youth and that's exactly where it started," said Back 2 School bash organizer and Salvation Army Men's Shelter director, Deny Cacy. "We just started making those connections and everybody has jumped on board extremely willing and ready to go so this has been about a year in the making."
Organizers said they're expecting around 400 kids to attend Wednesday.
"A lot of kids in our community don't have the opportunity to get these things whether it's something they cant afford or its something that the family doesn't have time to do," said Back 2 School Bash organizer and Heartland Health Center administrative assistant Daniel Petersen. "This gives them the opportunity to have those services and it's easy for us to organize it and put it together so we're happy to do it for the kids."
The free bash is Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the GI E Free Church.
No appointments are necessary but all kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
