Hastings man gets jail time in counterfeit money, drug case
A Hastings man will serve time in jail after he was caught trying to pay for a pizza delivery with counterfeit money.
Judge Terri Harder sentenced Michael Enquist, 25 to two years in jail and one year of probation after being convicted of unlawful circulation of a financial transaction device and possession of methamphetamine. Enquist pleaded no contest to both charges.
The Hastings Police Department said they responded to an apartment in the 1000 block of N Hastings Avenue on Oct. 2.
Police said Enquist had tried to give a pizza delivery person a counterfeit $100 bill, and wouldn't open the door for officers.
HPD obtained a search warrant and found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the apartment.
