Holdrege businessman pleads not guilty to possessing improper suppressors
A Holdrege businessman and candidate for the city's mayor will go to trial on federal charges.
According to court documents, Joe Melton pleaded not guilty Friday in federal court to two counts of possessing silencers - one not registered, the other without the proper serial number.
Also at Friday's court appearance, the federal government moved for detention of Melton.
A jury trial is set for Sept. 10.
