State Patrol to focus on DUI enforcement at Cedar River tanking event

People will be out catching some sun while attempting to break a world record along the Cedar River this weekend.

Troopers and dispatchers with the Nebraska State Patrol will be working overtime in an effort to prevent drunk-driving related crashes, according to a press release.

A special enforcement operation will take place in Greeley County on Sunday. Large crowds are expected to attend an event being described as a “World Record River Party”.

The enforcement will include saturation patrols and a DUI checkpoint during the event. The event is expected to include a large number of people tanking on the Cedar River and attending a concert following the tanking event.

The operation is made possible thanks in part to a grant for $2,200 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
