Valentine's Day came early for 60 veterans at the Veterans Medical Center.

Balloons, treats and even handmade cards were distributed by representatives from District 6 American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary. The 'Valentines for Our Heroes' project has been going on for several years.

District 6 President Lori Reimers says getting 'Thank You's', hugs and seeing the smiles on the veterans' faces is the reason she does all of this.

"It makes me feel very happy inside to make somebody else happy," said District 6 president Lori Reimers. "I just love the reactions I get from delivering things to the veterans to make them feel important."

Representatives from District 10 also participated, as well as members of the Sons of the American Legion, and the cards were made by Auxiliary Juniors.
