As the D2 playoffs began there were 5 undefeated teams, only two remained when Blue Hill and BDS took the field to determine the State champion. The Eagles boasted one of the best quarterbacks in Class D, 6–1 205–pound junior, John Christensen.

"He takes it pretty serious," said Co-Head Coach Chris Ardissono. " He's put a lot of work into it. He's a competitive guy. It's very important to him. He just wants to be a guy that makes great decisions and be a great football player."

BDS relied on Christensen's legs as he found the end zone 4 times in the first half. When it was all said and done John finished with 207 yards on the ground off 16 rushing attempts. Good for 13 yards per carry.

"We knew coming in that we could get outside of them," said Christensen. " We thought we'd have to pass it more but once we got the running game going we just didn't stop."

"He's a very tough runner, I mean he's really tough to bring down," said teammate Karson Dickson. " Once we get our blocks down. I mean he's gone. It's really helpful to have someone like him who can run and have the power to run people over so, it's great."

The Eagles cruised by the Bobcats 58–23. It's the 2nd state title for Christensen and his teammates in the last 3 years.
