TOW: Holdrege Cross Country (Class C State Champions)

The Lady Dusters leading in first place coming up on the 1st mile mark.

There aren't many times where one school can experience two different teams winning a state title in the same sport.

Unless, your Holdrege Cross Country who had both their boys and girls teams claim the class C state title last Friday.

Racing into first place as NTV's Team of the week.

The championship meet was held at the Kearney Country Club.

The lady dusters took off first, led by Sophomore Jirsie Klein who clocked in at 20 minutes and 58 seconds finishing 9th overall.

Holdrege had four of their five runners finish in the top 25, giving the team a 13 point lead over 2nd place Ft. Calhoun. Capturing the girls first state title in program history.

On the men's side Gavin Klein paced his team up front coming in second overall with a time of 17 minutes and 17 seconds.

The Holdrege boys had four of their six runners finish in the top 20.

Capturing their second consecutive championship.

Something the program hasn't done in nearly 50 years.

As a former cross country runner myself this was a very fun story to follow.
