Bronco women top GPAC preseason poll

Hastings College totaled 138 points for first place in the 2018 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Preseason Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Poll. The Broncos garnered six of thirteen first place votes.

Concordia, was picked second with 133 points and five first place votes, while Midland was picked third with 124 points and two first place votes. The University of Jamestown, in their first year as GPAC members was picked fourth with 107 points.

Concordia won the GPAC regular season with a 9-0-1 record last fall and posted an overall record of 15-2-4. Hastings won the GPAC Postseason Tournament and went 15-3-4 on the season after posting a 8-1-1 league record.

The 2018 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship will be held November 26 – December 1 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Alabama. The Opening Round matches will be played at campus sites on Saturday, November 17. The GPAC will receive two automatic bids to the NAIA Postseason in 2018. The NAIA Women’s Soccer Postseason will consist of 31 teams playing in a single elimination bracket (host institution receives opening round bye).

The 2018 GPAC women’s soccer season schedule will consist of 12 league games as all 13 teams will compete for the conference crown. Presentation College joins the GPAC as an affiliate member in men’s and women’s soccer in 2018.
