Finish at nationals spurs Bronco expectations
HASTINGS, Neb. —
Hastings College Track and Field having a banner year.
The Broncos ending the season with three national champions along with 25 All–American honors at the indoor and outdoor nationals.
Now comes the difficult part.
"I think we've gotten to the point where, it's expected that we're a top 10 ranked team where before that was really exciting," head coach Ryan Mahoney said. "Before, if we finished in the top half of the conference, that was exciting. These things are minimum expectations now."
Hastings is using the off season to ensure they don't take any steps back and setting their sights on a higher prize.
"We want to be on the podium and compete for conference titles. We want to go from being fourth and getting a trophy and then winning a national title and just continuing to push and raise those expectations," said Mahoney.
No rest for the weary; Hastings College runners begin their off season training regimen in the next few days.
