UNK golfer Brandi Lemek shines at NWAC
Following an impressive sophomore season on the green, UNK golfer Brandi Lemek made her third appearance this summer in the Nebraska Women's Armature Championships in Beatrice.
A two–day tournament with 36 holes, where she tied for second in the championship division.
On day one, Lemek putted a 74 on the first 18 holes, getting two birdies while parring on the entire front nine.
On the following day, she pulled off a 78 as her final score, finishing with one birdie and 11 pars, totaling 24 at the entire tournament.
Leading Lemek to Carding an 8–over par as her final score, giving her the highest place she's ever finished while partaking in the championships.
"Making up and downs really, and just parring holes by two putting them cause getting on and par," Lemek said. "If I missed the green, I'd just get close and hopefully make the putt in and surprisingly to say right now my strength has been my putting," Lemek explained.
"I don't know I guess I changed it up just a little bit to get a little bit better," Lemek stated. "And my putting was strength and that's not something I usually say. It's usually my driver and my irons, but this time was my putting actually."
Lemek finished this spring second on the Lopers golf team in season stroke average, while setting a new school record in the 54 hole event at regional's scoring a 235 placing in the top 40.
