UNK wins tenth straight match
KEARNEY --- Middle hitters Tara Ziegelbein and Mackenzie Puckett combined for 24 kills, leading the Lopers to the tenth straight victory and eleventh sweep of the season (-24, -14, -20) over Emporia State, Saturday at the Health and Sports Center.
Ziegelbein (14 kills, .257) was a force in the middle defensively as well, with a solo block and in on four assists. Puckett had two assists as well, while she was very productive with her chances, hitting .421.
While UNK (13-1, 2-0 MIAA) was able to make quick work of the Hornets, there were certainly some difficulties for the blue and gold, who were only able to muster a .138 hitting percentage as a team. The two teams combined for 46 attack errors as the Lopers held ESU (8-6, 1-1 MIAA) to a .083.
UNK hits the road this week with a trip to Fort Hays State on Tuesday, Pittsburg State Friday, and wrapping it up with a primetime match at No. 10 Central Oklahoma this Saturday.
