UNK Women's Golfers earn All-American Scholar Team honor
Kearney, Neb. – Three members of the Nebraska-Kearney women's golf team were recently named to the 2017-18 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team.
Senior Samantha Crawford (South Jordan, Utah), junior Maaika Mestl (Ogallala) and sophomore Brandi Lemek (Doniphan) were among the 1,011 women's golfers from the NCAA (all three divisions), NAIA and NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Assoc.) to qualify for this award.
To make the team, a golfer must have a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and have participated in 50% of her team's competitions during the regular season. Postseason rounds do not count and a golfer must be at her school the entire academic year.

In the classroom, Mestl maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA in Elementary Education K-6, Crawford posted a 3.91 in Sports Management with Lemek at a 3.48 in History Education 7-12. Finally, this trio helped UNK make the last two NCAA Central Regionals.
