Nebraska–Kearney athletics director Dr. Paul Plinske is one of five finalists for the same job at Colorado State–Pueblo, a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Plinske is scheduled to meet with the administration in Pueblo, Tuesday, March 6 at 8 a.m. for approximately 6.5 hours.

This position was posted in November of 2017 and the hope of the Thunderwolves is to have someone on campus after the current director of athletics, Joe Folda, officially retires April 30.

Plinske and the other finalists were decided last week and announced Monday.

Loper athletics has undergone a tremendous transition under the leadership of Plinske, including renovations and branding at the Health and Sports Center, a great contract with Under Armour to supply uniforms for the athletes and new turf at Foster Field are all among the positives.

His latest move, sadly, may be the most memorable, when three sports were forced to be dropped because of budget cuts institution-wide.

Plinske declined comment at this time when NTV reached out to him.

The Pueblo (Colo.) Chieftain first reported Plinske as a finalist.
