Husker volleyball dominating despite early question marks

Nebraska's Annika Albrecht prepares to spike the ball over the net during the Huskers 3-1 victory over Illinois. (

At this point in the year, Nebraska volleyball has accomplished quite a bit. They have wins over 6 teams ranked in the top 20. 5 of their 9 victories in Big Ten play have been 3 set sweeps. The Huskers are sitting tied for 1st in the Big Ten with the number 1 team in the land Penn State. Nebraska's steady improvement as the year progresses has ensured the Huskers spot at the top.

"There were so many question marks, but what's allowing us to be competitive is our serving passing and our defense," said coach John Cook. "We're holding teams to pretty low numbers. There's a lot of good offensive teams which has kept us in there. I think we're finding out way to side out well enough and I think we're pretty balanced."

Still a month left in the season for the Husker ladies. They're on the road this weekend at Michigan State and Michigan.
