Moomey competes at Cadet World Championships

Kearney's own Phillip Moomey one of three grapplers from the Cornhusker state qualifying for the Cadet World Championships back in June. It's the first appearance on the world stage for the 2–time state champion. Moomey with a difficult draw in his first round match, facing a silver medalist from the Asian games Badaghi Mofrad out of Iran.

Mofrad would control after the opening minute, taking a 6-0 lead. Moomey would score 2 points on a takedown, but drop the match 6-2. Mofrad easily advanced to the finals, meaning Moomey is still alive and will wrestle in the repechage matches tomorrow. They will begin at 9 am CST and can be viewed on track wrestling.
