Hastings High baseball advances past Norris

Suffering a tough loss to Douglas County West in the District finals, Hastings High baseball had to rely on the wildcard points to play in their favor, landing them the #5 seed in the state tournament against #4 Norris.

For the Tigers this marks their first trip to state since 1942, Norris on the other hand making their eighth consecutive appearance.

In the third Hastings up one to zero, then Conner Laux shoots one down the first base line.. One run scores. Tigers take a 2–0 lead over the titans.

Bottom of the third... Norris with a man on third, answer with Caden Argo hitting a grounder to second. Runner scores on the play, making it a one run game.

Norris would tie it late to send it to extras but Hastings would come alive in the eighth taking back the lead and never look back.

Tigers hang on and win it 3–2 taking round one. They'll play Lincoln Lutheran/Wahoo/Bishop Neumann in the quarterfinals Monday, at Haymarket Park, with first pitch scheduled at 4:00 p.m.
