Lexington powerlifter surges to the top of his class
Lexington's Harol Molina is the strongest high school powerlifter in the nation's 83 KG RAW varsity division where 24 participants competed.
A raw lifter doesn't have the supportive equipment utilized by the equipped lifters.
Molina squatted 192.5 KG, or nearly 425 pounds, to tie two others for first in squat. He also led his division with a 140 KG bench, or almost 309 pounds and he was the top dead–lifter at 232.5 KG, approximately 512.5 pounds for a grand total of 565 KG, which translates to 1,245.6 pounds.
Molina won the event Saturday at the 2018 USA Powerlifting High School Nationals.
Winners of this meet may be invited to be part of the World's Powerlifting Team, but Harol will not find out about his status in this regard for a few weeks.
