The No. 3 Mullen Broncos and sixth-ranked CWC Renegades played perhaps the closest match of the day in any of the six classes at the Nebraska state volleyball championships.

Mullen came away with the final three sets to win in four.

CWC looked poised for an upset after a 25-20 first set victory. Taylor Peter was a workhorse for the Renegades with 22 kills, four blocks, eight digs, plus one service ace and assist in the match.

Morgan Ramsey threw in another 16 kills for CWC as the two-headed attack outhit Mullen 38-33. Add in seven more CWC kills and they seemingly had the advantage.

However, Mullen's defense outblocked CWC 12-6 to make up the difference.

The Broncos must take on No. 2 BDS in the D2 semifinal starting at 11 a.m.
