Pleasanton, Overton advance to D1-10 final

Kaci Pierce (25) of Pleasanton goes in for a reverse lay-up versus Elm Creek, Feb. 13, 2018 (KHGI)

The ultra-loaded subdistrict saw four teams who were ranked in the top 15 of the D1 Wildcard standings, and with the current format to get to state, at least one of them are guaranteed to miss out, perhaps all three.

Pleasanton was able to get a little payback against Elm Creek with a 51-49 victory Tuesday night in the D1-10 subdistrict semifinal at Cope Coliseum. The Buffaloes are the only team to beat Pleasanton this year when they did so at home on Jan. 19.

In the other semifinal, it was the Overton Eagles, who have now won 12 of the last 14 with a 37-32 win over Ansley-Litchfield. This was the Spartans third loss of the season and they may miss out on the state tournament depending on how the wildcard seeding shapes up. They were 5th in the D1 standings entering Tuesday's games.
