Reloaded Ravenna girls starting to click

Members of the Ravenna girls go through practice drills on Jan. 2, 2018 (KHGI)

The Ravenna girls lost four seniors off a team finishing 3rd at the 2017 C2 state tournament.

Starting this season a little inconsistent out of the gates, the Bluejays limped to a 2–2 record.

"It's been an adjustment because a lot of the girls who were replacing the girls they haven't had a lot of minutes of varsity action so it's been an adjustment for them," head coach Noah Maulsby said.

Now, they've picked up the pace the last few weeks, winning four of their last five games to close out the calendar year. Ravenna is happy with their progress but the team acknowledges they still have a way to go.

"It's been an adjustment to learn for them to play with the other girls," Maulsby says. "I think they're doing a good job and like I said I think each game we're getting a little bit better and I think we're starting to figure each other out a little bit more."

The Jays are getting their last really good test against one of the top teams from C2 until districts. Doniphan–Trumbull has won six straight entering Thursday’s match-up at Ravenna.
